Faith communities have been responding to homelessness for as long as there have been people without homes.
While we come from different faith traditions, we share the common belief in the inherent dignity and the equal and inalienable rights of all members of the human family as the foundation of freedom, justice and peace in the world.
We believe we belong together in global community and local neighbourhoods and that we share more than can possibly divide us.
Purpose
The Faith Network exists to unite faith communities, housing organizations, and community partners around a shared commitment to ending homelessness.
We connect, equip, and engage faith communities across Canada to advance housing justice, respond to homelessness, and create stronger communities.
We do this by:
Building relationships
Sharing resources, knowledge and practical tools
Supporting advocacy and systems change
Highlighting promising practices and innovation
Creating opportunities for mutual learning
Vision
A Canada where faith communities are recognized, connected, and mobilized as essential partners in ending homelessness.
Theory of Change
If faith communities are connected to one another, equipped with practical tools, and supported to move from charity to systems change, they can significantly increase their collective impact on ending homelessness across Canada.
Values
The Faith Network concurs with the existing values of the Canadian Alliance to End Homelessness, and adds:
Love for our neighbours
Commitment to truth and reconciliation
Belief that local faith communities are part of a healthy community
Commitment to being a safe space for all
